Barnsdale Lodge Wedding Photography - Rupert & Victoria

Barnsdale Lodge Wedding Photography - A truly energetic and fun packed wedding day all the way from the ceremony at Crowland Abbey through to the reception at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel and quite possibly the most infectiously high spirited first dance I’ve been fortunate enough to witness and photograph! I’d been looking forward to this day for my own reasons, I can actually see Crowland Abbey from my office window and have use it for most of my recent outdoor pre-wedding shoots.

Rupert & Victoria are Medical graduates from EAU (East Anglia University). When they have both completed their qualifications Rupert will become a surgeon and Victoria will be a G.P.

My day started out at at Family Home where Victoria and her bridesmaids where sharing a glass or 2 of champagne and having hair and makeup done.

I shot with my little Fuji Xpro-1 almost exclusively to be as unobtrusive as you can be in a family home! The wedding ceremony at Crowland Abbey was to start at 12.00 and I made the short journey about 40 mins ahead of time to find Rupert greeting guests out the front.

The Wedding ceremony at Crowland Abbey was very well attended, many of the guests also being from a medical background. After groups and some shots of the newly weds in the grounds we all headed to Barnsdale Lodge Hotel on the edge of Rutland Water for the wedding reception. The party atmosphere really ramped up in to the later part of the day and evening; I have selected the highlights from the entire day but be sure to check out the bull riding and first dance, which incidentally goes down as the most energetic I have witnessed!

Following a quick turnaround to go back and pickup the brides bouquet everything was set for Victoria’s entrance and long walk down the aisle next her proud father.

After a short time guest and family gathered to side of Crowland Abbey where we took 20 mins for the photographs the couple had requested.

After all guests had gone ahead, I positioned myself to capture to a short of series spontaneous natural photographs of the couple as they walked back to the front of the Abbey before guest showered them with confetti. We then spent 10-15 minutes alone where I loosley directed Rupert and Victoria to make use of the grounds and backdrop of Crowland Abbey and produce keepsake images of them together.
