I

I have photographed a number of weddings at Branston Hall Hotel and I always look forward to every wedding at Branston Hall as they have  habit of making every wedding very individual. Dave & Cathy are perhaps one of the most relaxed and laid back couple’s I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Early on when we met they were very keen that I knew the most important part of their wedding day was the act of actually getting married to each other. The subsequent periphery surrounding the day like flowers, elaborate gestures and months of planning the tiniest things for each moment was not what their marriage and wedding day was to be about. That said, nothing was missing, the whole day was a classy and smoothly ran affair.

Unusually my coverage for the wedding day  started at St John’s church in Clarborough where I met the groom Dave and the guys. Later on the wedding reception would be held at Branston Hall Hotel. My coverage throughout the entire day was to be almost exclusively reportage based with few directed or even slightly orchestrated photo’s. In fact when I looked back the first photo I took which was even slightly directed was over 3 1/2 hours into the wedding. A wonderfully emotional and good-humoured wedding ceremony was followed by a meet and great and plenty of chatting with wedding guests in the Clarborough church grounds. During this time I photographed a lot of interaction and laughter. After wonderfully impromtu confetti throwing at the lych gate where the wedding car waiting. I postioned myself the take photos of Dave & Cathy through the car side window as they entered and it paid off when I stole an intimate photo of their first semi-private kiss.
